Stop overpaying
your vendors.

Most small businesses are paying for services they no longer need, missing renewal deadlines, or operating under outdated vendor agreements. HBL Consulting provides an independent review to identify cost savings, contract risks, and operational gaps.

What We Do

A vendor watchdog for small businesses.

Vendor costs and recurring services rarely stay static. Contracts renew, pricing changes, and protections lapse while business owners stay focused on running the company. HBL Consulting acts as an independent vendor watchdog, helping small businesses monitor costs, risks, and renewals before problems surface.

Vendor Audit Reviews

Independent inventory of every recurring vendor relationship with a written risk and savings report.

Renewal Monitoring

Track every contract end-date and cancellation window so nothing auto-renews on autopilot.

Contract Risk Identification

Flag unfavorable terms, missing protections, and pricing creep before they cost you.

Vendor Review & Coordination

Independent review of vendor terms and pricing, plus coordination support for renewal conversations — without overstepping relationships you've already built.

Vendor Organization & Tracking

A single source of truth for your vendor register — replacing the binder, the inbox search, and the office manager's memory.

Ongoing Vendor Oversight

Optional follow-on engagement once your vendors are sorted, so the system stays clean year over year.

Who This Helps

nobody else watches.

If your business is small enough that you don't have a procurement department but big enough to deal with more than a handful of vendors, you're exactly who this is for.

About

Jonathan Sherlin, Founder

Headshot coming soon

HBL Consulting was built from a career spent working in high-accountability environments where details, oversight, and operational discipline mattered.

Most recently, Jonathan managed vendor coordination and contract oversight across more than 20 concurrent government-sponsored programs totaling over $35 million in contract value, serving as a central point of accountability between stakeholders, vendors, and delivery teams. That experience exposed a recurring problem: businesses often sign vendor agreements once, then rarely revisit them until costs, renewals, or operational issues become unavoidable.

Prior to that work, Jonathan spent five years as a strategic data analyst within a regional healthcare system and eight years in the United States Coast Guard supporting classified network systems and federal compliance operations.

HBL Consulting brings that same analytical and operational oversight mindset to small businesses that do not have dedicated procurement or vendor management staff.
